Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

From the scriptwriters that brought us Crash Landing on You and My Love From the Star, The Legend of the Blue Sea is a comedic and fantastical love story loosely inspired by the Joseon legend found in the historical tales of Eou Yadam by Yoo Mong In. Like the drama, the tale centers on a man who captures and then releases a mermaid.

Before you watch on Viki: Start with episode 1, not 0! For some reason, episode 0 is a recap episode. The show also only has 20 episodes, although Viki shows 23.

TLotBS was so funny. I'm not the biggest fan of Jun Ji Hyun (FL actresss), but her acting style for this role perfectly. I watched My Love From the Star after I saw this drama, and it cracked me up because I felt like she was acting like her Mermaid character, which confused me given the context of who she was suppose to be in MLFtS.

Though the drama stars a mermaid, it didn't show her as one that often, which I was very okay with. The romance was cute and the side characters were pretty fun. Episodes 1-12 are genuinely some of the funniest out there, but the show does slow down after that. Still, it's worth a watch!

Story=4.25, Acting=3.75, Production Quality=4, Ending= 4, Enjoyability= 5, Would I rewatch= Yes!
