Spoiler-Free Mini Review:
Crash Landing on You is the THE starter K-Drama for the romance genre. The premise is literally insane, but it gets there-- you just have to let it cook. I've head people say it can take 3 eps to get into, but I was in it to win it the moment our girlie pop rocked in North Korea. This drama tricks you with it's zany beginning and makes you think it will be a whacky hallmark-esque narrative, but you would be incorrect. The drama is layered with emotional depth, quality comedy, political melodrama, and chemistry so believable the lead actors got married after the show ended. Hallmark is shaking in it's Christmas festive boots.

So if you're going into this expecting it to be your run of the mill rom com, you may be disappointed. The show has a grounded realism which sounds odd considering a rich heiress in a hot pink jumpsuit paraglides into North Korea on accident, but don't expect everything to be tied with a bow. It's still fun and jaunty, but there is a practicality to everything.
The most interesting piece of Crash Landing on You was the sense of loss and separation which speaks to the real life relationship between North and South Korea, which in my mind, is what pushes this rom com into the big leagues.
