MDL Rating: | |
Genre: | Period Idol Romance/ Fantasy |
Episode Count: | 35 |
Last Episode Watched: | 18 |
Parental Guidance Rating: | TV-18+ (on Prime Video): Blood, Foul Language and Violence (This is in NO WAY TV-18. I'd say TV-14 or lower. And I don't recall any foul language, or at least it didn't pop up in the 18 eps I watched.) |
Starring: | Zheng Ye Cheng (Brocade Odyssey) Hu Yi Xuan (How Dare You?!) Huang Can Can (Are You The One?) James Yang (Only For Love) |
Synopsis:
The princess Churyue Xu (Yixuan Hu), and the decisive general Yao Xue (Yecheng Zheng) are total strangers. However, a palace assassination brings them together. Churyue Xu concealed her identity to marry Yao Xue, but she doesn't know this marriage is a nightmare. @Prime Video
Non-Spoiler Thoughts:
The Sleepless Princess should be renamed "The Sleepy Princess" because it put me to sleep real quick. The Male Lead, Xue Yao, was unlikeable, and Zhen Ye Cheng didn't do the character any favors with his portrayal. Hu Yi Xuan as Xu Chu Yue was fine, but I'm very glad to see Yi Xuan in a leading role after watching her shine in Faithful. Huang Can Can is always a great time, but I doth protest Xu Xing Cheng's character. Enough with the suitor or sibling trope. I can't stand a story where a "fake" brother is obssessed with his "sister", be it through adoption, step relation, or raised as sibilings. NO MORE. Ever Night, Speed and Love, and Imperial Coroner are offending dramas that immediately come to mind. Ew.
The drama is very cheesy, but looses it's grip when it tries to be angsty and serious. A skip from me.
Story=2, Acting=2.25, Production Quality=2, Rewatch Value=2, Enjoyability= 2 (DNF'd)

Why I dropped:
Didn't like the Male Lead
Didn't like the Female Lead's brother
Become bored
