6.4/10 Stars: A perfectly blasé idol drama that was underwhelming in its flat acting and predictable story, but committed no crimes. Only a good watch when there is nothing else to watch.



Synopsis:

The clever and decisive Liu Mian Tang, as the first lord of Yang Shan, led the people of Yang Shan to punish the wicked, promote goodness, and uphold justice. However, she suffered serious injuries under the attack of various evil forces and was rescued by Cui Xing Zhou, the Prince of Huai Yang. When Liu Mian Tang woke up, she had no memory of Yang Shan, mistaking Cui Xing Zhou for her husband Cui Jiu. If their identities were finally exposed, could they face all of that honestly while enduring hardships? @MDL



Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

Amnesia, a fake marriage, double identities-- and that's just in the first couple episodes lol. Are You The One is a middle of the road Idol drama with a clever Female Lead, and a mumbling Male Lead I never warmed up to. The drama was marketed as a Ancient Chinese Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but I have never seen the film, so I can't say if it's accurate. But I'm gonna go with it's a no.


Are you the one c-drama still with Zhang Wanyi and wang Churan

The drama was very vanilla. No performances, storylines, costumes, or sets wowed me. On the flip side, nothing offended me, which these days is quite the feat. There was no sense of urgency and the pace plodded along slowly, but at least it was consistent? The romance of the main leads was nothing memorable, although I do remember not really liking the Male Lead. Is it just me, or his voice monotone? I can't get over it. He was not the one for me.


The second and third couples were also fairly bland. I feel like Liu Ling Zi (He Zhen) plays the same character in everything she's in. Shi Xue Jie was the most interesting character of the drama, and Yuan Yu Xuan did a great job adding depth and emotion.


Despite being underwhelming, Are You The One had moments of cleverness and fun, so if you have nothing else to watch, it's better than nothing.
