Spoiler-Free Mini Review:
Twelve Letters is a surprisingly engaging mystery thriller romance fantasy. That is a lot of genres, which the show balances well, interweaving themes of poverty, regret, fate, & how far you would go for the people you love. The mystical element was more surrealist than fantasy and leaned more functional than magical as it was only the mechanism for the story rather than a plot point.
I haven’t vibed with the FL actress in anything I’ve seen her in and still can't connect w/ her here for the most part. I was hoping the chemistry between the FL & ML would be in the room with us, but not even a Ouija board could summon it. However, the love story is more about companionship & belonging and there were some cute moments. The writing really saved them, so it didn’t distract. However, calling that old man who is 67 years old in real life a 54 y.o. was distracting. May my skincare never fail me.
Weirdly, this was kind of a cozy watch, although many people were beaten up many times. The 2FL and the security guard were highlights!
Story= 4.5 (Original, although some unanswered questions)
Acting= 4.5 (ML, 2FL, & security guard were standouts)
Production Quality=5 (real life locations, beautiful music)
Ending= 3.5 (Abrupt)
Enjoyability= 4.5 (I had a pretty good time)
