Synopsis:
Ban Ji Eum has the ability to remember all her past lives, living through countless reincarnations for nearly a thousand years. After a tragic accident ends her previous life, she seeks to reconnect with the people from that life, focusing on Moon Seo Ha, whom she met in her 18th life. As she navigates her 19th life, will memories of her past hinder her romance, or can love endure across lifetimes? Meanwhile, Yoon Cho Won, a landscape architect and the younger sister of Yoon Joo Won, struggles to maintain her brightness after her sister’s death. Spoiler-Free Mini Review:
Adapted from the Webtoon of the same name, See You in My 19th Life was my first visual exposure to the concept of reincarnation, and I found it so interesting. I knew the vague definition before diving in, but seeing the concept play out on screen made it feel entirely new to me. Reincarnation is the belief that souls are reborn into new bodies after death in a cycle that can only be ended after enlightenment. This concept ties to In-Yeon (Destiny), meaning that many of the people you meet in life are people you knew in a previous life, and that's why you come in contact. Ban Ji Eum (FL) remembers all of her previous reincarnations due to unresolved In-Yeon with Moon Seo Ha.
Shin Hae Sun (FL Actress) nailed the role. She's often a miss for me because I can't help but feel like
she's looking at the camera when she acts (I don't know if that makes sense, but it is what it is), but she played her different personas here so well. Ahn Bo Hyun (ML Actor) was a bit blah for me and the way the lead romance was written, rather than the chemistry, is what sold me on the pairing. The second leads were cute, but I was more interested in spending time on the mystery.
Perfect for fans of Destined With You, See You in My 19th Life is a fantasy romance that will keep you guessing. It's not a must watch, but an engaging time.
