Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

An adorable rom com following two former lovers who are unexpectedly reunited as they are strong armed into participating in a documentary, leading them to unpack their past relationship. This was just so cute! The drama dealt with some heavier topics, but it never felt weighed down. The leads had great chemistry and nothing about their romance was certain, which kept me hooked. I also really loved the character of the female lead and her battle to open up and overcome her pride.

The story is very character driven rather than plot driven, and slows even further towards the end. I found it bingeable, but not in the edge of my seat kind of way, so if that's your flavor of rom com, this might be a skip. Our Beloved Summer doesn't really have stakes. The flashbacks provide emotional context but the leads would be fine without each other and nothing is on the line.

If you enjoy the quintessential 'dated in high school and revisiting the relationship 10 years later' storyline, this might be the show for you. And if you have watched and want more, then check out Melo Movie by the same scriptwriter. It also stars Choi Woo Shik who practically plays the same character as he does here. Fair warning: It's not as good.
