Title:

Good Bad Mother

Platform:

Netflix

MDL Rating:

Genre:

Contemporary Family Comedy/Melodrama

Episode Count:

14

Parental Guidance Rating:

MA: This is not a traditional MA, I'm not sure why it's rated as such. I would say it's TV-14/TV-16. But there are themes of suicide, some swearing, minimal violence. The rating is truly a head scratcher. For more information: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/the-good-bad-mother

Staring:

Ra Mi Ran (Reply 1988)

Lee Do Hyun (Youth of May and Sweet Home S2)

Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

This is Perfection! And the K-Drama that got me (and thus, everyone else in my life) in the hole. This has every element I love about K-Dramas! As the drama title indicates, the show is about a Mother who is genuinely good and genuinely bad. It spends most of its time on the relationship between dual protagonists mother and son, but balances elements like romance, family, crime, and community with the graceful skill of a Golden Corral. There is a heap of comedy along with very (well done) melodramatic storylines and scenes.

There is some swearing (in ep 7 in particular) and a suicide attempt depicted in the drama, but other than that not sure why it's rated MA. I will never understand how international shows are rated on American streaming services.

Story=5 (Emotional and hysterical with a touch of mystery.)

Acting=5 (Outstanding)

Production Quality=5 (Loved the village!)

Ending=4.5 (Wrapped up well but wanted more romance)

Enjoyability= 5 (Didn't skip AT ALL)

Would I rewatch= Yes!

For some reason, to this day, this is the funniest scene I have ever watched in a K-drama.
