Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

Lovers of the Red Sky, adapted from the novel of the same name, tiptoed so Alchemy of Souls could run lol. Strap in for some diabolical CGI, emo demon transformations, and some very spatially aware blind individuals. I should preface this post by saying that I binge watched the drama RIGHT after I had just gotten out of surgery, so I cannot be held accountable for my opinions.

Demon in Korean Drama; Ahn Hypo Seop in Lovers of the Red Sky
Not the 2000's goth makeover to make him look like a demon lol

The drama started off so strong and intriguing and then slowly nose dived into the overflowing ravine of historical dramas that can't keep it together. Hong Cheon Gi (FL) was a mostly likable and talented character who had a few annoying "main character energy" moments that felt off putting, but her young age and appearance gave her grace. Ha Ram craked me up. He was so serious and stately, but found himself in the most awkward positions. (The actor of the ML voiced Jinu from K-Pop Demon Hunters!) And the Grand Prince was an actually likable 2ML, praise be! I really enjoyed the camaraderie of the painting guild.

The show had a serious pacing problem and stretched out the painting storyline for too long. And the drama ends so abruptly. I don't even know if I could call it an ending. It seems like they ended with a Season 2 in mind, but that's not happening. lol.

Ultimately, a mid time, even under anesthesia.

Story=3, Acting=4, Production Quality=3.5, Ending= 1.0, Enjoyability= 3.5, Would I rewatch= Maybe
