5.7/10 Stars: A Hallmark story that lacked energy, chemistry, and common sense. It wasn't awful, but I wish I would've dropped.



Synopsis:

Song Ha Ran is the chief designer of Korea's premier high-end fashion house Nana Atelier. Unlike her flawless, seemingly perfect image, she has locked herself in a winter state due to the loss of loved ones. Song Ha Ran accidentally meets Sunwoo Chan. This causes cracks in her daily life and the balance of her life begins to shake. Sunwoo Chan works as a character designer at a world famous animation studio. He has a bright and cheerful personality, but, behind that, he harbors deep wounds from a mysterious incident from his past. His accidental encounter with Song Ha Ran leads him to face an unimaginable secret. @MDL



Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

In Your Radiant Season is not as radiant as I hoped it would be. The drama is a cheesy and lackluster production that I should've dropped, but I was convinced by positive reviews that there would be a light at the end of the mundane tunnel. Unfortunately, there wasn't even a glimpse.


The narrative is very Hallmark, which I indulge in every now and again, but it didn't have the same energy. I know Lee Sung Kyung (FL) is depressed over the death over her first love, but there wasn't even a ferocity to her sadness. Her performance was really not my vibe, but it could've been how her character was written too. Sunwoo Chan (ML) was almost too chill and the pair couldn't convince me that they really cared about each other. Also, is it just me or does Chae Jong Hyeop (ML Actor) look completely different in this role? I didn't even recognize the man!


The poster of the FL is so wild. It doesn't even look like her. Holy filter.


The sister's stories were much more interesting, as were their romances . Han Ji Hyeon's (Second Sister) performance felt a little amateur, but I liked how her romance unfolded. Surprisingly, the best romance of the drama goes Song Ha Dam, the high school aged sister lol. She and her baseball boyfriend were so cute. The side characters in the office felt like caricatures, and there was way too much english. This is a K-Drama, folks. I'm here for the K.


In Your Radiant Season was ultimately a miss for me. The main couple had no spark, the story was ridden with plot-holes, and I just couldn't care about what was going on. It's certainly not the worst drama of the year by any means, but I wish I would have dropped it.


Halmenoi's Anna Wintour bob was a serious slay though. Oh, and I hope Su Jin wakes up every morning and steps on a lego.



Story=2.75 (Many plotholes but I liked the other relationships), Acting=2.5 (Meh), Production Quality=4 (Fine),  Ending=3 (Fine. I didn't really care at that point), Enjoyability= 2 (Couldn't wait to be done),  Would I rewatch= "Don't be ridiculous!"- Miranda Priestly
