Synopsis:

The mischievous girl, Ling Miao Miao, accidentally enters the mission system of the novel Monster Hunting and becomes a villainous supporting character. To return to the real world, she must complete the system's task—winning over the mysterious and twisted young man, Mu Sheng. Along the way, they team up with Mu Yao, a member of a monster-hunting family, and Liu Fu Yi, a monster hunter. Together, they fight monsters and level up. As the missions progress, they gradually resolve the animosity between humans and monsters, rewrite the fated ending, and save the world. @MDL

Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (what a title) joins the onslaught of transmigration dramas flooding the market, but with a fun twist that sees our modern protagonist thrust into the role of an evil Second Female Lead. This lends to many hilarious misadventures where Ling Miao Miao must try to break out of her newfound role and change the story so she can find a way back home.

Young woman in pastel hanfu with floral hairpins rests chin on hands, gazing right; Love Game in Eastern Fantasy with Esther Yu

The drama blew up in China upon its release which befuddles me. All the characters act like they are seven regardless of age, and the plot leans quite young and silly. The colorful costumes and sets were beautiful, but it felt more like a photoshoot meant to capture children's attention, rather than a drama. There are many a high pitched voice, and once again, Esther Yu plays a full grown woman who acts like a toddler. The drama really is pure fluff. That's not a crime, but I couldn't figure out who this is marketed towards.

LGiEF is like a Disney-fied version of Demon Slayer (make of that what you will) for when you want a drama that allows you to turn off your brain completely. For fear of it rotting. It's more adjacent to a Xianxia and reminds me of the absurdity of Back from the Brink. The last chunk of episodes are more plot driven, and thus less interesting, because what even is the plot? This is by no means a must watch, but if you want pure fluff, go for it?

Story=3.5 (Storylines weave together solidly), Acting =2 (Serious case of toddler acting, but it was intentional, so good job?) , Production Quality=5 (Great costumes & CGI-- on LBFaD level), Rewatch Value=2 (Wouldn't rewatch), Ending=4.75 (wish we saw more characters at the end). Enjoyability= 3 (I ffw'd a bit, but it was fine and I could completely turn off my brain)
