Synopsis:

Fifty thousand years ago, Jiu Chen, the God of War, sealed away the demon lord and fell into a deep slumber. Non-Spoiler Thoughts:

Love and Destiny is a stand alone spin off of Eternal Love and takes place in the same universe, along with Eternal Love of Dream. The vibes are very similiar, but this Female Lead leans more Bai Feng Jiu than Bai Qian. Once again, we are given a "toddler" female lead who is naive and kinda irritating, although she does get better as the story goes on. Watching Ni Ni (Fl Actress) in this felt a little like watching Kierra Knightley in The Nutcracker and The Four Realms; I kept wondering what she was doing there and how dire the state of the world must truly be for her to be there.



I didn't feel the romance between her and the Mo Yuan (Eternal Love reference) stand in, Jiu Chen (ML). They were a really odd paring. I know the drama was trying to stress that Jui Chen was older and stoic and all that, but I'm not a fan of age gap relationships and it was right in front of your face that he is 11 years older than the actress. He didn't do much for me acting wise, but in his defense, they did make his wig in the shape of a triangle. It's hard to act when you look like a pyramid. The styling was not good; it felt lazy, bland, and repetitive.


The animation was also quite unintentionally haunting. While the lead romance didn't interest me, Qing Yao's romance and the FL's parentage kept me watching for those 30 episodes. But by that halfway point, I was just trying to push through, so I dropped it.


Story=2.5, Acting=2.5, Production Quality=3, Rewatch Value=2, Enjoyability= 2


Why I dropped:

  • Acting wasn't great

  • The ML looked like a triangle

  • The FL was annoying

  • Too Long
