Synopsis:

Adopted as an orphan, Fu Yao served as a slave for the Xuan Yuan sect in the Taiyuan Kingdom. After a series of tragedies, she journeyed across the lands, searching to lift the curse that blighted her life. Along the way, she meets the Crown Prince of Tianquan, Zhang Sun Wu Ji, and falls in love with him. Spoiler-Free Mini Review:

I don't think I have the ability to encapsulate in words what a wild ride Legend of Fu Yao was. I feel like I lived different lives throughout the course of watching it. It has Wuxia elements, but it doesn't strictly fall in that category, though action and mystical elements were involved. Just know that it was super intense for no reason. Genuinely.

There were elements I really liked: Fu Yao's growth, The Male Lead (Wu Ji), Liu Yi Jun (Qi Zhen) slaying as an actor and character, and the Heavenly physician. I might be brainwashed, but I even liked that CGI hamster. The characters were great, and I liked the palace politics and budding romance, but after that point, everything felt like too much. The content gets pretty heavy. It's directed by the man who brought us Royal Nirvana, so the angst is real.
